A Dog-Friendly Day in Southfield, MI
Updated September 24, 2026
Bringing a dog along in Southfield is mostly a question of which patios will actually have you. These five are listed in our directory as allowing dogs in their outdoor seating — no guesswork, no calling ahead and being turned away.
## Morning: coffee with the dog
**Starbucks Coffee Company**, 29235 Telegraph Rd. Patio seating, dogs allowed outside, and a drive-through if the weather turns. It is the simplest first stop on the Telegraph side.
## Late morning: a longer sit
**Panera Bread**, 28681 Telegraph Rd. Outdoor seating, dogs welcome outside, Wi-Fi and a full breakfast and brunch menu. This is the stop where you can actually stay a while instead of drinking standing up.
## Lunch: the best patio of the day
**Bigalora Wood Fired Cucina**, 29110 Franklin Rd. Wood-fired pizza, a proper patio and dogs allowed in the outdoor seating. The strongest food on this list by a wide margin.
## Afternoon alternative
**Shield's Restaurant Bar Pizzeria**, 25101 Telegraph Rd. Deep-dish, a full bar, patio seating and dogs welcome outside. Good when you want a longer, slower afternoon with a drink involved.
## Casual close
**Evergreen Bar & Grill**, 25309 Evergreen Rd, and **Sweetwater Express** (29296 Northwestern Hwy) both allow dogs in the outdoor seating and both are unfussy. Pick whichever is closer to home.
## How to run the loop
Start on Telegraph, cut across to Franklin Road for lunch, then finish on Evergreen or Northwestern. Every stop has a free lot with shade at the edges, and the driving between them is under ten minutes.
## What Southfield does not have yet
We do not currently list a dog park, groomer or pet supply shop inside the city, so this itinerary is honestly about patios rather than a full day of dog services. When those businesses land in our directory, they will show up here.
If you are planning around outdoor seating generally, our [patios guide](/guides/best-patios-in-southfield) covers every confirmed patio in the city.
